This is a two day introduction to basic fusing in our large kilns, it combines cutting uniform shapes using the Morton system with the art of kiln firing, and offers many suggestions for finishing and displaying your results.
Learn about glass compatability and the different firing programs we use. Become familiar with frequently used terminology and discover some time saving cutting techniques. Participate in kiln preparation, loading and maximizing the use of space for different firing schedules.
In addition to designing an original plate or bowl, you will also make several samplers for ornaments using repeating geometric shapes. Your projects will allow you to to combine full, tack and slump firing schedules in order to achieve desired results. You will have access to glass powders, frit and stringers in order to enhance your designs. Ceramic fibre products will be available for texture effects..
No previous fusing experience is required but glass cutting experience is necessary so bring your own cutters, pliers and marking pens.
All materials and 3 firings are included
in the cost of the seminar.
