THE STUDIO
Our large art glass studio occupies half of the total store space and is located on the same level as the retail store for convenient access. It offers large, well lit work stations with all of the regularly used equipment like grinders and soldering irons. The Studio also has a light table, a came saw and came bender for framing your projects. The tools used for the programs, workshops and open studio time are available for all of your individual artistic endeavours.
The studio and equipment is available every day during opening hours, except when courses are being held on Wednesday and Saturday mornings from 9:30 am to noon. No instructor is available during this time with the exception of Thursday mornings. Rita Thompson will be available from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Thursday mornings to answer questions or help with any problems you may be having with your project. Open Studio is on a Drop-in basis, so you don't need to book time. Cost is $10.00 for three hours which includes work space, equipment and camaraderie with other glass lovers.Eight tables are available, and they are at the perfect height for most adults. For young people, we supply step-ups, as needed. If there is anything that you need, but don't see, just ask. Oh, yes, we do have customer washroom facilities, (just in case you were wondering)
If you're interested in fused glass, all of the necessary equipment for glass fusing is available, including the moulds, paper etc. Pre-programmed kilns are available to reserve for firing your project. The larger kiln - 22" in diameter is $35.00/firing and the smaller one - 25.5"x41" is $25/firing. We also have several 6"x6" hot boxes (small kilns often used for jewelry) at $10/firing. We recommend you book the kilns ahead of time to avoid disappointment.
